Autumn has arrived

August flew by for us, lots of work, not much downtime and BAM - it's suddenly September and there's a definite chill in the air.

I love this time of year, the approach to Halloween (best holiday ever!) and that scent of dried leaves, moss and mustiness that starts around now.

A few photos from the past two weeks here in Ireland:

Bales outside the kitchen.  Clear blue sky.

The front door smothered in honeysuckle. The scent is incredible.

Starbucks scone recipe. I've never eaten one but the recipe looked yummy. It was!

Wheat for our Lughnasa festivities.

Old roofs, in traffic, on the way to Dublin.

Getting in the Halloween frame-of-mind!

Happy Autumn to you all! ~Siobhan xx

July has begun

We're baking in a heat wave here in Ireland this week - and loving it!

The first week of June

June has begun with a burst of blue skies and rare sunshine this year - hooray!

Every minute possible is spent outside, soaking up the warmth and pottering around in the fields or forestry.

A few snapshots from this first week of summer:

Early morning sunlight in the forestry

Cotton buds

Daisies are everywhere

Fields filled with golden buttercups

A jar full of feathers

A lone dandelion

Treasures found on an evening walk

Sitting in traffic in the sunshine

In our local bookshop.  I think I may have to buy...

Hope you're enjoying June as much as we are so far.  Until next week - ~Siobhan xo

The Week that Was

A busy week for me, both at the office job and with Moonslipper.

A few snaps taken with both the Nikon and the phone.  Everything is blooming and growing and Spring appears to have finally arrived!

In the Spirit of Spring Cleaning, I censed the house, top to bottom.

This Incense really does a good job...

Molly decided to stalk the fish afterwards.

Grocery shopping in baggy jeans!

A gloomy April morning with new tree buds.

A huge (3 foot wide) empty nest on the ground after a storm.

Found this at work. Is someone trying to tell me something? :)

Hope you're enjoying Spring so far! Chat with you next week.  ~Siobhan x

Photos from a day last week

What have you been up to over the past week?  Is it a spring-like April where you call home, or is it like here in Ireland - stormy, wet and cold?  Oh my, we're longing for warmth and sun  and the promise of balmy evenings.

Without further ado, a few pictures from a day last week, a bit of this, a bit of that, from my corner of South East Ireland.  I do hope you enjoy them!

My boy Boots at breakfast.  He's looking at a Danish Pastry.

On my way to work I see a purple tractor.

Reading my book at lunch, doing a bit of research for Moonslipper.

And this was where I had my lunch.  It was all very hushed...

Came home, took a walk through our forestry before being overcome with brambles...

We've tons of weird and wonderful lichen on the trees - a sign of pure air.

And lots of pretty things blooming after a long, cold , dark winter.

And someone who didn't make it through the winter. Fox? Lamb? I'm not sure.

Unopened bottle of Southern Comfort at the end of the day. Cool label.

See you same time next week, wishing you all things wonderful and magical.  ~Siobhan x

Back after a Year

No blog post in about a year - a bit of a disappointment I know.

The past year has been a bit challenging for me with a chronic back problem that suddenly decided to crank up the discomfort level a few notches.

So, I've decided to try  and dip my toe in the blog world again with with photos from one day in my week.  Easy does it! :)

The ones this week were taken yesterday, with my Samsung phone.  Bringing my Nikon around with me in our local town is just too clumsy and a bit touristy and it just wasn't going to happen!

They're totally spontaneous, no staging, no prettiness, just what went on yesterday.  Chat with you again next week.

Before going out, an Easter Card from an old friend...

Seriously charming, hidden house next to our doctor's surgery...

I use this brand all the time and scored these samples at the local chemist...

Met hubby for lunch at the Italian in town and the waiter served me this with a wink.  Oh yes.

Cobblestone streets in our town...

More old buildings in town, the streets are so narrow...

Picked this up in the bookshop. Being plagued by insomnia at the moment...

Checking in on Moonslipper and typing up this blog. Must clean the screen...
